Choose the camera task first
For a Greenwich CCTV installation, explain whether the priority is a caller at a door, movement through a business entrance or an overview of an outside area. These tasks may require different views. Describe the detail you need rather than selecting a package by camera count alone.
If the entrance or approach is shared, identify who controls the space and who can approve the proposed position. Recording needs and access to footage should be discussed alongside the installation, with the relevant ICO guidance considered.
Include the building and its setting
Check any relevant heritage or owner restrictions for the actual address. Visible equipment and cable routes should be agreed with those constraints available at the beginning. The presence of historic buildings in Greenwich is not a basis for assuming identical restrictions on every property.
Tell us about lighting, glass reflections and objects that regularly obstruct the view. If existing CCTV is being reviewed, describe the conditions in which it becomes unhelpful. Position, recording equipment and normal operation all deserve consideration, not only the camera specification.
Verify the viewing and recording arrangement
Agree the recorder location and the account holder before handover. Ask what recording history is proposed, how clips are retrieved and what phone viewing depends on. Make any ongoing charges clear in the quotation. During the demonstration, use playback as well as live viewing and confirm authorised users can find a particular event. Keep the operating information available so access can be managed when staff or occupants change.
