Work backwards from the footage you need
A Bromley CCTV proposal should start with what an authorised user needs to understand after an event. Is the priority a clear view at the entrance, movement through a shop or access beside a home? Describe that purpose first. It helps distinguish a useful camera layout from one chosen simply to cover the largest possible area.
If replacing an existing system, explain whether pictures are unclear, incidents are difficult to find or the controls are inconvenient. More cameras will not necessarily resolve a problem with playback or account access.
Consider installation and administration together
Agree positions and cable routes before work starts, including any relevant building or ownership restrictions. For business premises, identify the person responsible for the network and the person who manages recordings. They may be different people, and both may need to be involved in the setup.
For home use, consider how access will be managed if a phone is lost or replaced. Ask which account controls the system and which features depend on external services. Remote viewing should be explained as part of the proposal, including any continuing costs.
Define the handover checks
Ask to see the required views under representative conditions and to practise searching for a recording. Discuss the intended retention arrangement and how clips are exported. If footage includes people outside your private boundary or is used for business purposes, consult current ICO guidance about the relevant responsibilities. A clear quotation should identify cameras, recorder, installation work and the agreed viewing setup so competing proposals can be compared on scope.
