Give the gate and the doorway separate jobs
At a Belvedere property with an outside approach, a broad view can show movement without necessarily showing useful detail at a door. Explain whether the priority is understanding activity across an area or seeing a person at a specific point. The camera arrangement should follow that purpose rather than a standard quantity of cameras.
If you need to review vehicle movements, describe the location and conditions. Do not assume a general camera will reliably capture number plates in every situation. Ask the team to assess the precise requirement and explain the limits of the proposed equipment.
Allow for a working environment
For a yard or business entrance, consider deliveries, parked vehicles and items that may obstruct the view. Tell us where equipment can be mounted and how engineers can reach those positions. If access involves a neighbouring unit or shared structure, resolve responsibility before installation is booked.
For domestic coverage, identify your boundary and the views you want to avoid. A camera facing a gate should not be positioned simply to record as much surrounding space as possible.
Agree recording and user access
Explain how far back you need to review incidents and who will search for them. Storage requirements depend on the recording arrangement, so ask for the proposed retention approach rather than an unsupported promise of unlimited footage. Discuss internet availability for remote viewing and where the recorder will sit. Before handover is complete, have the responsible person locate and export a sample recording using the installed controls.
